The eighteen youth who were arrested from Babylon on Tuesday are still being held by the police at the Banjulunding Police station . 
According to ASP Lamin Njie, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Gambia Police Force the 18 men from Babylon are currently helping the police in their investigations.
The arrests come in the wake of an announcement by the Ministry of Lands and Regional Government that Babylon settlement is not recognised by the Government of The Gambia and that Mr Lamin Jarju is not recognised as the Alkalo of the said settlement.
The mothers of the arrested youth of Babylon visited Mrs Aminata
Sifia Hydara the Governor of West Coast Region to explain their
grievance about the incident. A woman among them told Foroyaa that upon their arrival at the governor’s office only one among them was allowed to enter the governor’s office.
The source further added that after explaining the incident to the governor, she advised them to remain calm and exercise optimism that the matter will be address amicably.
The names of the arrested youths are Alagi Manneh, Lamin Jobe, Yaya Jobe, Ousman Kanteh, Abdoudul Kadir Barry, Sainey Badjie, Wurry Jallow, Mr. Keita, Famara Banda, Kebba Banda, Ebrima Jobe, Saikou Fatty, Lamin Fatty (commonly known as Chan-Chaa-rang), Mr. Saidykhan and Malick Darboe. The names of the remaining three arrestees are yet to be confirmed.
