IEC has started sensitisation of potential voters on the registration process but it is mute on the registration of voters under the new constituencies it has announced.
We have pointed out that unless there is constitutional amendment, such constituencies cannot come into being.
The people are informed of a change in constituencies but are not being informed how they would register under those constituencies.
There is gross uncertainty as far as such matters are concerned.
A national debate is necessary on this matter. The IEC should state its position and lead the debate. It must not be allowed to be mute.
