GFF-The President of the Gambia Football Federation Lamin Kabba Bajo has on Wednesday 9th March, 2016 presided over the
launch of two new standing committees under the GFF, Beach Soccer and Futsal.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Secretariat Board Room and was attended by both Committee members.
In his inaugural opening, President Bajo first thanked the members for the trust and confidence bestowed on them for accepting to be members of the committee. “I want to assure you that the GFF Executive will do everything within its powers to help your committee to succeed in its mandate.” Mr Bajo said the first mandate of the Committee is to look at the work registered by the task force Committee of Beach Soccer and build on their successes. ‘ The challenges are surmountable hence you are the pioneers of the Committee in the Gambia, but I have no doubt that you will serve well in the committee, because your composition is of mixed abilities, veterans, experts and the young’.
Mr. Abdou Karim Sey, President of West Coast Regional Football Association is the Chairman of the Beach Soccer while Mr. Alagie Faye GFF Executive Member is the Chairman for Futsal Committee. In his acceptance speech on behalf of the two committees, Abdou Karim Sey thanked the GFF President and Executive for the confidence placed on them to serve in the committees. “I want to say that the trust you put on us is accepted and will be fulfilled to the latter by all of us.” Mr Sey challenged his members to live up to the task by carrying out activities in the right perspective.
For his part, Futsal Committee Chairman Mr Alagie Faye also expressed thanks and appreciation to the GFF Executive for identifying them as pioneers of Beach Soccer and Futsal committees. Mr Faye said the committee, “will play their roles adequately to fulfill our mandate.”
The GFF President later announced that Abdou Karim Sey and Alagie Faye have been identified as Co-coordinators for the Beach Soccer and Futsal Committees. He said the two Chairpersons will be the liaison officers for FIFA and CAF in terms of coordinating local Beach Soccer and Futsal activities for the international bodies.
