Gambian striker Ali Sowe has departed Modena after just four monthsALI SOWE
there, Foroyaa Sport can report.
What might have triggered Sowe to move hasn’t been explained but it’s
believed the 21-year-old’s lack of consistency and form coupled
with bouts of injuries are a contributing factor. The ex-Serrekunda United man transferred to second tier side Modena
from Chievo Verona hoping to be in hit tip-top form with former
Chelsea striker Crespo, now coach at the club, a major influence in
Sowe opting to join Modena
But having struggled to rediscover his scoring prowess – a thing he
lost immediately after leaving Juve Stabia – Ali has decided to try
elsewhere. His adventure took him to Lecce, a third tier outfit in
Italy who reserve the right to make the deal permanent.
Playing in the Lega Pro, the move means the former Gambia U-19 captain
shares league with countrymen Lamin Jallow and Yusupha Bobb -both tied
to group A table-topper Cittadella until season’s end.
Dubbed Drogba, Ali who can field as a striker on either wing,
nightmares has been consequence of injury problems and it was such
misfortune that forced him to draw the curtain to his loan spell at US
Latina last campaign in a bid to fix up the niggling issue. He
underwent a special fitness programme and appeared to have recovered
before sustaining a recurrence.
Since then it has been a pattern of a week in the field and another
out on the treatment table.
But with this transfer the attacker will hope to put behind his woes
and put his career together.
