Real de Banjul are without a coach after the removal of AlhagieAmat Cham.Amat Cham Franky Van de VeldeBonu Johnson

Club president Willy Abraham decided to use his electrical broom after growing disillusioned over Real’s sequence of poor results.

The club hierarchy made a lot of investment reinforcing the squad with an avalanche of signings as they look to walk their way to the league title this term after losing it out to Gamtel season before. But the summer arrivals are yet to spark off with a poor match readings of four games without a win.

Speculations have been rife over Amat Cham’s future following the coach’s no-show in the club’s dug-out amid claims the former Young African gaffer is on the brink of being sacked.

Real’s were forced to leap to his defence with the side’s president denying the rumour before announcing yesterday afternoon that the two have parted ways.

Appointed December last year, Cham has been sitting on hot bricks with his position under scrutiny following the side’s exit from the CAF Champions League and his failure to scoop the domestic title in his first season.

Signed December last year as replacement to MatarrM’boge, Amat leaves with only weeks away from completing his initial two-year contract.

‘We’d like to thank AlhajiAmat Cham for his dedication to our Club since he took over but ultimately, we feel this decision is in the best interest of our Club and we need to move in a different direction,’ the club said yesterday in a statement.

Cham’s removal leaves the managerial hot-seat void amid reports club technical director Belgian coach Franky Van de Velde could be installed as permanent replacement.

Should Velde accept temptation to take up the job, which according to many looks likely, it will see him make a second coming to a post he vacated owing to failing health.

Bonu Johnson is also one of the names being bandied about as a possible candidate to assume coaching responsibility. The erstwhile Gambia national team tactician was initially mooted to replace Cham at end of last season following the club trophy-less campaign in 2014.

There were even talks of a verbal agreement between Bonu and the club before Willy Abrham denied the claims when reached by Foroyaa Sport before start of this league championship.

Meanwhile coach Baboucarr Corker will be expected to aid whosoever meets the club board’s liking in his role as assistant.
