Magistrate Jaiteh Removed from Judiciary

Foroyaa has reliably learnt that Mr. Ebrima Jaiteh, the then Magistrate of Brikama Magistrate’s Court has been removed from Magistrate Ebrima Jaitehthe judiciary following his release from detention at the Police headquarters in Banjul last week.

When contacted for confirmation, Mr. Jaiteh on Monday evening, 16th November, 2015, told this reporter that he was asked out of the judiciary but no reason was indicated. “I was not told the reason of my dismissal but I was told ‘thank you for your services you have been rendering’,”said Jaiteh.

Mr. Jaiteh was arraigned in camera (within closed doors) at the Brikama Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 charged with abuse of office and negligence of official duties. This came after 3 nights detention at the Police headquarters in Banjul following his arrest and handing over to the serious crime unit.

Family sources link his arrest to a decision he has taken in court by transferring a case to the Bundung Magistrate’s court on the basis of territorial jurisdiction.

After his arraignment, he was granted bail by the Brikama magistrates’ in the sum of D50,000 and the case was adjourned till 25 November 2015.
