Serrekunda West Nawettan is set to begin in full swing after Kanifing United rolled over the league curtain raiser beating Kaw-Tally Friday.
An own goal gift from a Kaw-Tally player’s gaffe settled the duel which gave the Kanifing outfit the Super Cup.
The celebration on Friday brought to an end United’s wait for the Cup after losing out to Tigers FC the previous season. Elsewhere in the Brikama league, defending champions Fortune got off to a quick start walking over Yarambamba FC in BYSA’s Super Cup. Two goals from Assan Njie and one from Pa Baldeh did the damage. The game held over the weekend, signals start of the league.
But whether the Brikama anticipated championship will kick-start on time with an ongoing administrative deadlock in the zone remains to be seen.
Thirty-two teams will vie for the stakes this season. League holder Fortune FC lands in Group C and faces tough schedules with Conge BI, Kabafita United and Real De Busumbala.
