UDP Amadou Sanneh’s Judgment is 30th July

By Kebba Jeffang The judgment in the appeal case of Amadou Sanneh, the National treasurerAmadou Sanneh of the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) has been scheduled for 30th July, 2015 at the Gambia Court of Appeal and not 13th July, 2015.The accused person, the relatives and friends were seen waiting for the verdict yesterday. The panel of judges were not in court when all the accused persons, relatives and sympathisers were again seen leaving the court room. When approached, the defence counsel, Lawyer A.N.M Darboe said “the judgment should not have been today but 30th July, 2015.” It could be recalled that Mr. Sanneh was sentenced on 18 December 2013 in a trial which lasted three months. He is now appealing against his conviction by Justice Emmanuel Nkea of the Special Criminal Division of the Banjul High Court to serve five years for sedition related charges and five years for conspiracy, both of which are to run concurrently.]]>
