HAS GOVERNMENT CALCULATED THE COST OF NOT HAVING A FERRY OPERATIONAL AT THE BANJUL/BARRA FERRY CROSSING?

171

It is reported that those who join boats from Barra to Banjul are now paying D200 to boat owners and D50 from the boat to the shore because of the lack of docking facilities.

One dramatic incident was the story of some relatives who came from Dakar to attend a funeral in Banjul only to take a transport to Farafenni to cross to Soma to come to Banjul. School children and working parents are in a state of despair.

Interestingly enough, instead of transforming the Farafenni Bridge into an efficient management service to manage the bridges and raise sufficient funds to improve river transport, including ferries, rumours are rife that government intends to put all these sovereign assets partly or wholly in the hands of investors.
