The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on Sunday, 21 November ended the replacement of voting cards across the country.
The Commission commenced the replacement of lost, stolen or damaged voters’ cards issued to eligible Gambians in 2021 on the 15 November and ended on Sunday, 21 November, 2021.
The IEC conducted a general registration of voters from the 29 May to 11 July, 2021, and was able to register nine hundred and sixty-two thousand, one hundred and fifty-seven (962,157) people.
The replacement of voters’ cards according to the IEC, attracts a fee of one hundred dalasi.
“Cards to be replaced are those issued during the recently concluded general registration of voters which was held from the 29 May to 11 July, 2021,” the Commission stated.
Foroyaa will engage the IEC on the number of people who have replaced their voters’ cards.
