Building Project, a Gambia charitable organization, recently donated medical equipment and learning materials to hospitals, institutions, and schools.
Building Project with charitable Number 2021/ C16118 aims to help children to realize their potential in schools and assist the needy, especially those hospitalized by providing health facilities with medical equipment.
The charitable organization donated learning materials to Bundung Annex, Latrikunda Sabaji Annex, Latrikunda Proper, Talinding Lower Basic School, Latrikunda Upper and Senior Secondary School, Charles Jaw Memorial Upper and Senior Secondary School, Kerr Sarigne Community Nursery School and Achievers Quest Academy.
The organization also donated medical equipment to the Gambia Fire and Rescue Service, National Sports Council, and Bundung Maternal Hospital.
Mikailu Secka, the chairperson of the aforesaid charitable organization, said “My donors shipped a forty-foot container full of medical equipment and learning materials and all the items in the container is meant to be given out as donation to institutions,” he said.
Mr. Secka, a former Gambia national football team player, said he will continue to distribute materials to beneficiaries, adding the charitable organization was established to help the needy and they will continue to do so as long as they have the means.
Omar Ceesay, the Public Relations Officer at the Bundung Maternal Hospital, said the supplies donated to the infirmary will help health workers in their day-to-day operations.
“As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to pose threats in the country, all health institutions need provision to protect their workforces and patients. In Bundung, we receive a lot of patients and we need to protect them and our health workers as well,” he said.
Ceesay applauded the donors for their support to the hospital and called on other institutions to emulate them.
Other institutions that benefited from the gesture made similar comments and thanked the donors for their support.
