NEW GRADING SYSTEM WILL NOT HAVE RETROACTIVE APPLICATION Says UTG Students Union President

By Sailu Bah The new grading system, one of the issues that have been a source of controversyUTG Law Faculty hall between the students of the University of The Gambia (UTG) and the university administration will no longer be applied retroactively. This latest development was disclosed by Mr Omar Sambou, the President of UTG Students’ Union, yesterday, Monday, 30 March, 2015 following the meeting of the Senate. Mr. Sambou also said that university lectures, which are being boycotted by the students pending the outcome of decision of the sub committee of the Governing Council on 6 April, will resume today, 31 March. He said the 2015 batch has no transcript presently and their fate will be decided on by the 6th April meeting. The UTG Law Faculty hall in Kanifing was filled up with students from all the schools who were there as part of the ongoing sit in and to discuss about the collective steps they are to take with regards to their demands on the new grading system and the 10% tuition increment which they objected to. Reacting to this new development, the students promised to converge in large numbers on the 6 April to hear the outcome of the sub committee. The students union president said the senate is urging students to resume lectures today.  ]]>
