The Judicial sources have informed Foroyaa that the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC), yesterday, 13 December, 2016 filed an election petition at the Supreme Court of the Gambia.

It could be recalled that the outgoing President Yahya Jammeh on Friday, 10 December, 2016 rejected the December 1st Presidential results in its totality and promised fresh election. This prompted swift reaction both nationally and internationally, with critics pointing out that he has no constitutional authority to reject election results or fix a date for fresh elections. However, on Saturday 11 December, 2016 The Gambia Radio and Television Services(GRTS) announced over the news that the APRC is on the process of filing a petition at the Supreme Court of the Gambia to challenge the election results.
