Lieutenant Colonel Solo Bojang, who was acquitted and discharged by a
subordinate court in Brikama in the West Coast region, has so far spent one hundred and eight days in detention.
Bojang who was detained by state security agents before he was acquitted on 12 May, 2014, by the Brikama magistrates’ court, was re-arrested shortly after the court declared him innocent.
A close family source told this reporter that Lt. Colonel Bojang is still under detention at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) detention center in Tanji, Kombo South.
The erstwhile commander of the State Guards in Kanilai and former manager of the Kanilai Family Farms (KFF), was seen by his family before he was whisked away by people in plain clothes who put him in a tinted glass and numberless vehicle, moments after his acquittal and discharge.
He was indicted on 4 counts of abuse of office, false information, conspiracy and theft.
Earlier on, Lt. Col. Bojang was convicted and fined D50, 000 on one of the charges and which the family source said has been paid since.
Family sources added that their loved one is still under detention by the NIA and that they are denied access to him.
However, the family has been making numerous appeals for the authorities to release him as his continued detention is traumatizing and affecting them as he is their breadwinner.]]>
