QUESTION OF THE DAY

HAS ANY INTER-PARTY COALITION BEEN FORMED SO FAR TO PROSECUTE THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION?

The answer is in the negative. There are eight opposition parties in The Gambia, in alphabetical order one has the GDC whose presidential candidate is Mama Kandeh; the GMC which is still silent on the election; the GPDP which supports a primary in determining candidature; the NCP whose presidential candidate is Dr Lamin Bojang; the NRP which is still being awaited to announce its candidature; the PDOIS whose presidential candidate is Halifa Sallah; the PPP which is also still silent on method of coalition  building; and the UDP which has invited applications and is preparing to select its candidate. It is anticipated that sooner or later these opposition parties or candidates would meet with any independent candidate to discuss a coalition agenda for the 2016 presidential election.
