The former nominated National Assembly Member (NAM), Madam Tina Faal, who was earlier arraigned and granted court bail onTINA FAAL 1 August, was re-arrested on Monday, 8 August, 2016, and held at the Mile Two prison for 8 days as of today.

Her court case before Principal Magistrate Omar Cham of the lower court in Banjul has been unable to proceed both on the 10 and 11 August 2016 due to the reported ill health of the trial magistrate, according to a family source.

The source disclosed that while Madam Faal left her home on the morning of Monday, 8 August, to visit her daughter in Kololi, two men and a woman in civilian clothes came there around midday to ask for her and were told that she had stepped out. The source explained that when the three unknown visitors were asked what they wanted her for, they said they have some documents to drop with her but did not disclose their identities. The source said the visitors then asked one of the relatives to call Madam Faal so that they can talk to her and which was done. “When Tina’s number was dialed and they got her on the phone they asked her where she was at that moment and she told them. They then left immediately,” added the source.

They explained it was after this that the family was later informed that she (Tina) was re-arrested again.

“Some of our family members began searching for her and she was later traced at Mile Two prison,” said the source.

When asked whether the prison authorities are allowing them access to see and take food to her, the source responded in the positive.

Madam Faal is also a member of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), a newly formed political part
