Yaya Jammeh, a revered heavyweight wrestler, will this coming weekend represent Gambia in a one-day battle against Senegal’s Falaye 2.
In what is touted to be nerve-wracking contest, Jammeh, from Gambia’s Police Force Wrestling Club slugs it out with Falaye 2, from Falaye Baldeh club in Senegal.
Named after visiting wrestler Ama Balde, the clash will be the grand combat with the winner to take home the flag.
A Gambian wrestler is yet to take down a Senegalese wrestler since 2014 and Jammeh –who’ll be the country’s hope on Sunday – is ardent on breaking the chains of that unprepossessing hoodoo.
Since losing to Action of Kololi-Mbolloh, Jammeh has witnessed an upward trajectory in his career and recently sashayed over Begue to add to his soaring number of victories.
Prior to this grand combat there will be nine other mini-bouts according to organisers Nairu promotions.
