The trial involving six women, who are supporters of the United Democratic Party (UDP), at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday, 6 June 2016, was adjourned as the trial magistrate could not proceed with the case due to illness.
The six accused persons are Kaddy Samateh, a lactating mother of a month old baby, Isatou Saidy, Lele Bojang, Sukai Dahaba, Fatou Sarr and Amie Touray.
The six are facing seven counts charges of ’Conspiracy to commit felony’, ‘Unlawful assembly’, ‘Riot’, ‘Incitement of violence’, ‘Riotously interfering with vehicles, ‘Holding procession without a permit’, and ‘Disobeying an order to disperse from an unlawful procession’.
When the case was called, Magistrate Hilary Abeke informed the counsels and accused persons that he did manage to come to court but was not feeling well and does not have the strength to proceed with the hearing. He therefore adjourned the case to Tuesday, 14 June, 2016 at 11am for hearing.
