Gambia Refugee Association in Germany has informed Foroyaa that 20 Gambian migrants have been arrested and detained by the authorities in that country, awaiting their deportation to The Gambia.

The Spokesperson of the Association Yaya Sonko said all those people have informed him about their arrest and detention.

According to the source, the German Government has requested for a landing permit from the Gambia Government and they are waiting for them to give them approval. They are expected to land in the Gambia on the 27th January 2021. Many concerned Gambians are asking questions regarding whether the Government has signed any agreement with Berlin to facilitate the deportation of these people.

Foroyaa will engage the Government on the issue.
