The Gambia’s Young Scorpions have resumed training after the Eid al-Adha break despite the postponement of the West African Football Union (WAFU A&B) U20 Boys Cup for a later date. A dispatch from the GFFMedia stated that this development comes on the heels of a “request by the WAFU B as the host region for the tournament”.

“WAFU A, in a circular to its Members, today, informed the participating countries that the tournament, initially scheduled to take place from 15th to 30th June 2025, in Ghana, has been postponed to a later date in an attempt to ensure a better organisation and smooth running of the competition,” GFFMedia stated on Monday evening.

Head Coach Abdoulie Bojang and his charges are continuing their preparations at the National Technical Training Centre in Old Yundum. Bojang has named a provisional squad of 30 players from the first and second division clubs weeks ago and he is expected to trim the squad to the required number for the forthcoming competition. Meanwhile, the Young Scorpions have been pitted against hosts Ghana, Togo and Liberia in Group A.
