By Sarjo Camara- Singateh Ms. Naffie Sanyang, a 24 year old lady, is seeking for assistance to undergo treatment abroad to treat a recurring ailment called ‘Haemetemsis’ which is the oozing of blood from her nostrils. According to Ms. Sanyang, she is now suffering from frequent attacks that come at least every other day. She said the attacks always start with severe pain in her stomach which leads to dizziness and often fainting with the oozing of blood from her nostrils. “I always feel severe pain, faint and lose blood when I have an attack and this is what ends my schooling at grade eight,” said the desperate young lady. She has been suffering from this ailment since 2008 and has attended various hospitals as outpatient and on occasions admitted at the Accident and Emergency (A/E) Unit of the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) for observation and treatment. According to a medical report from EFST Hospital, Ms. Sanyang had repeated endoscopy done at both the hospital and the Medical Research Council (MRC) where she was told to have early DU. It indicated that the patient can go to the United Kingdom (UK) for further treatment. Ms. Sanyang has also gone to Dakar, Senegal, for further treatment at a private clinic but to no avail. This ailment has been going on for the past seven years without any cure despite the visits she made to many hospitals for treatment in both the Gambia and neighbouring Senegal.
