Oil rich Venezuela is steadily sinking into crisis. It has the wealth to make the country and people prosperous. This however is not possible without national unity and stability irrespective of political diversity.
The country is just from elections. A democratic electoral system should have a dispute resolution agency where election petitions are filed and contested election results addressed. In situations of internal crisis, solidarity is needed from neighbouring countries to help mediate to settle conflicts.
Otherwise street protests would lead to destruction of life and property and turn the security services into coercive forces that would arrest and disrupt protestors. Brazil could play such a role after going through its own internal storm and stress period.
