Why Is Torture Still Being Alleged By Accused Persons In Court?

QUESTION OF THE DAY

Cabinet should include in its agenda discussion on the alleged use of torture to get confession. It is becoming frequent for accused persons to allege torture to induce confession. The Barrow administration has made it very clear that it is brought to office to put an end to any form of injustice.

Cabinet should meet to review all the allegations and set up a fact finding mission to get to the truth. Torture is an inhuman and degrading punishment. Anybody who enjoys torturing a fellow human being must be a sadist. Such a person moves away from the family of human beings. No matter whether one is affected or not, torture must be seen to be an act of savagery which no civilised human being should condone.
