 WHY IS THE IEC NOT GIVING ENOUGH PUBLICITY TO THE REGISTRATION?
WHY IS THE IEC NOT USING ALL THE MEDIA IN THE COUNTRY TO ADVERTISE THE
REGISTRATION EXERCISE WHICH IS COMMENCING TODAY 14th JANUARY 2016?
Voter education is part of the mandate of the IEC. Hence there should
be provision in the Elections Act which will make it mandatory forthem to give adequate publicity to the places and dates for
registration. The IEC should involve FM stations and other media
establishments to sensitise the public. Political parties should also
play their own part to sensitise voters to value their citizenship by
acquitting a voter’s card. Without a voter’s card, a citizen does not
have a voice to be the architect of one’s destiny.
