QUESTION OF THE DAY

Why is the Government operating with such secrecy?

Since April 7, 2016, the Chairpersonship of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) had changed but no announcement over GRTS had taken place.

Newspapers in the Gambia got information from different sources but could not publish it as news because of the lack of official documents or information confirming the fact.

Something is terribly wrong with this method of administering a country. Transparency requires every public decision to be put in the public space without hesitation.

The time is ripe for a change of conduct from the angle of the authorities. Any nation which is governed by secrecy will be stultified by rumour. When rumours become news a people will not know the difference between truth and fabrication.
