Foroyaa will contact those foreign envoys involved to find out their
rationale for referring to The Gambia as an Islamic Republic. This is
an affront to the Constitution of the Gambia which is based on seculartraditions and does not entertain the establishment of any religion as
a state religion.
Governments should enquire to find out what the Constitutions of
countries state and impress on Governments to uphold and defend their
constitutions instead of conforming to what is unconstitutional.
The Gambia is not an Islamic Republic. Those who continue to
perpetuate the idea are speaking a language which is alien to the
Constitution of the Gambia.
