QUESTION OF THE DAY
Foroyaa has tried to find out how many tons of groundnuts the National Food Security Processing and Marketing Corporation or former GGC, would be able to buy during the coming trade season. This should have sent a signal to the private and informal sector to know how to come in and put their weight in buying the crop. Farmers must be protected by ensuring that all those who purchase groundnuts are licenced buying agents, who should agree to a memorandum committing themselves to buy at the established price. We are waiting for the ASPA meeting to determine whether the buyers are ready for the season.
