WHO SHOULD PERFORM THE FUNCTIONS OF PRESIDENT WHEN THE PRESIDENT TRAVELS?
According to section 70 of the Constitution,
“There shall be a Vice-President of The Gambia who shall be the principal assistant of the President in the discharge of his or her executive functions and shall exercise such other functions as may be conferred on him or her by this Constitution or assigned to him or her by the President.”
In other words, just as there is always a president so should there always be his/her principal assistant, the vice president who should perform his/her functions whenever he/she travels. For weeks now there has been no vice president and the question asked cannot therefore be answered.
