An armed attacked at the PIU check point at Fass Njaga Choi, leading to the seizure of weapon, should not be taken lightly given the fact that it led to the injury of an officer.
It is claimed that the attackers vanished through the porous border into Senegal. This means that bandits have been armed with superior weapons and are likely to use them at a later date. There is need to reinforce border patrols by armed security forces if further incursions by armed bandits into the Gambia is to be avoided.
