November is fast approaching and despite the late rains, some farmers have harvested their crops. If the government fails to announce the producer price, the temptation to sell groundnuts across the border will increase. Some will prefer selling their nuts to weekly markets organized all over the country, called ‘lumos’. It is not clear how many tonnes are to be bought and transformed into groundnut oil and how many tonnes are to be sold as decorticated nuts or not.
Foroyaa will contact both the GGC and the Ministry of Agriculture Livestock and Food Security to find out the level of preparedness for the 2025/2026 marketing season.
