WHEN WILL THE GOVERNMENT BRING A CONSTITUTIONAL PROMULGATION BILL TO THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY?

109

People are concerned that the Bill to facilitate the promulgation of the Constitution of the third Republic is yet to be published in the Gazette as required by section 226 of the Constitution. The executive has declared that a referendum will take place on the new constitution before the end of the year.

Time is of the essence if such a declaration is to be met. At least three months publication is required followed by a second publication that should last at least for ten days before a Constitution could be brought to the National Assembly for the first reading. A press conference is necessary on the side of the executive to give the nation an update.
