WHAT WILL BE THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE IN HIS 19TH JUNE ADDRESS?

The plate of the president is full. The attempt to cut and disconnect cables from 36 sets of solar panels each carrying 18 solar panels at the newly installed solar generation plant at Jambur, the government white paper on the report of the Janneh Commission and connected matters, ex-President Jammeh’s claims regarding oil deposits in The Gambia that are allegedly in foreign hands, the legitimate remuneration of dock workers in the face of Albayrak takeover of port management and the deep sea port project, the recycling the of Senegambia Bridge,  the outcome of the paracetamol death cases, the outcome of the oil spill at the Gam Petroleum depot at Mandinary, the future of Gamtel/Gamcel and other public corporations, the consultation plan for Constitution making, diaspora voting, the proposal by Haliffa Sallah that if the Constitution (Promulgation) Bill 2024 is not approved, then all would agree to amend the 1997 Constitution to attain the following: a two term limit, a second ballot in the absence of 50% plus one victory in presidential elections, one third of the seats in the National Assembly to be filled by women alone election, diaspora voting and disability representation; and so on and so forth.

The nation is waiting to hear what the president will say.
