The recent stabbing of a youth and his death due to the fact that he could not get first aid on time to move from the site of the crime to the hospital. According to information received, those who witnessed the stabbing ran away in order not to be implicated. It is reported that he got exhausted and fell down.
It is sad that many young people sit all day arguing about football and other issues instead of being given support to live productive lives. State response to such killings should not just be that of strengthening the iron hand, but to create programmes for productive pursuits and nurture them to have love and concern. Unless we build a society that treasures human life, parents will spend time and energy to bring up their offspring only to witness their death because of interpersonal conflict or adventure to seek for greener pasture. The nation has to come to grips with these problems.
