WHAT IS HOLDING THE INTERPARTY COMMITTEE FROM FUNCTIONING?

72

The IEC frequently tells journalists that it aims to work very closely with the inter-party committee comprising all political parties in the country. One would expect the interparty committee to be working with the IEC to explain issues like replacement of voters’ cards, nomination of candidates and the whole election process, especially voter education.

The journalists must be wondering why this inter-party committee is yet to join the IEC during its press conferences or feature in television and radio programmes to show its relevance.

In short, the interparty committee is still not visible in the public space.

Foroyaa will start contacting the political parties, starting with the APRC to find out if an interparty committee exists and if so why it is not visible in the public space. If not, then why is it still being referred to as a partner to the IEC in its bid to deliver free, fair and genuine elections.
