Tom Saintfiet, the head coach of The Gambia national team has told the press that his team is aspiring to stay longer in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AfCON) in Ivory Coast.
“We want to win [against Guinea]. We are here to stay longer [in the competition],” Coach Tom Saintfeit said.
Tom’s team, the Scorpions, suffered a 3-nil defeat to neighbouring Senegal on Monday, 15 January. The coach said the team has held recovery sessions together after the defeat and are training for the Guinea match today.
The coach said Guinea has a strong team and has to give them respect.
“We have a very good squad and the aim is to get the three points. The ambition is to win the game,” he said.
