Real de Banjul’s head coach Majorr Saine insists he wasn’t “terrified” and didn’t venture into any extraordinary training drill in the build-up to his team ending champions-elect Gamtel’s unbeaten streak this week.

It took two first-half goals from former SV Laar and Interior playmaker Ebou Sanyang and Ebrima Sidibeh to wreak havoc on the Telecommunication Giants.

“We trained as normal to play against Gamtel and we knew it will not be an easy match for us but looking at our league position, we want to finish second.

Considering our last game, we lost it, we needed the match more than Gamtel that is why we came all out on them and scored two goals,” Saine said.

He said the team was unfortunate to have lost against the GPA 1-0 in their last outing and could not afford to lose against Gamtel.

He added: “We played against Gamtel in the first round and we were unfortunate to lose against them and today we came to collect the three points.”

Saine moaned over the mass exodus of key players sold to outside teams.

“This year, we have sold more than 12 players and this has really affected my team. Recently we have sent some players to Europe (Pa Modou Sohna and Foday Manneh), ” he continued

Real de Banjul will face struggling Bombada who have managed to secure only one win this season and are to be involved in their final league match today.
