Wagadu Football Club and Elite United, both playing in the Gambia Football Federation Second Division, have progressed to the quarter final stage of the Gambia Football Federation league cup.
Wagadu won 3-0 against Unique Global on Tuesday while Elite United notched up 1-nil against First Division side, BST Galaxy, on the same day.
Elite United is enduring a difficult season as they drew 9, lost 4 and won 6 of the 19 matches they played so far. They are 12 points behind the league leaders. They have won only 1 from their last 5 matches in the league sitting in 7th position. Coming out to win against a First Division team in the league cup was impressive.
Wagadu is sitting in 6th position with 28 points. They won 7, drew 7 and lost 5 of their 19 matches played so far in the main league. They won against Unique Global, also playing in the Second Division, took them to the quarter finals. They won 2 out of their last 5 matches the last of which was a draw against Serrekunda United last week Thursday in the League.
