Nomination of candidates for the April 6 National Assembly elections has passed off without incident and the campaign has already begun. The nomination has produced a record number of 239 candidates for 53 constituencies, or 4.5 candidates on the average contesting each constituency. Not a single seat is left uncontested unlike in the past when certain candidates are unopposed.
As far as gender is concerned a lot has to be done, only 16 out 239 candidates are female.
