By Fatoumatta K jallow Waste dumped at a junction in Tallinding near Ahmaddiya Hospital which blocked access to the Westfield/Brikama highway remained uncollected up to the time of going to press. Speaking to Foroyaa, one Lamin Touray a clothes seller said the waste had been there since Saturday, the day of the ‘setsettal’ when it was dumped there and remained uncollected. He said the stench was too strong and was disturbing them a lot. He called on the authorities to collect it as soon as possible because it can cause infection. One Mariama Sowe, a fruit seller nearby said apart from the foul odour, the waste dumped in the area impedes their movement a lot as they cannot use the access road anymore. “Even accessing the shops on the main road is now a problem. In fact every day the vehicles that collect waste pass by but they do not heed our calls to collect the waste. The authorities should help us,” she lamented. Collection of waste or rather lack of it has now become a perennial problem of councils. Foroyaa will contact the KMC to find out what plans they have for the waste dump. ]]>
