Unbeaten Lekett shrugs off Jokardo

By Sulayman Bah  Lekett is living the dream drubbing Jokardo to leave his Lekett Bu Barraunbeaten record in the arena unblemished. The man who ostentatiously carries the sobriquet Lekett Bu Barra –literary the calabash of Barra –a settlement adjacent to the capital famously littered with traditional wrestlers – is seemingly enjoying an easy ride over his opponents in the Gambian arena. While the calabash could effortlessly be torn apart, Leket is proving the unbreakable one wasting little time to flatten the latest adversary posing threat to his unbeaten record in under three minutes. He’s singled out for favourite-tagging but has been tipped to struggle in the teeth of a much heralded opponent in Jokardo, on paper. Pundits had projected an enticing fight which the Sunday battle didn’t lacked but the manner the then Gambian captain had his adversary routed turned heads and the talking point of wrestling commentators. Jokardo let off a right-hander on the whistle of start missing on the first attempt but had touch the man with three quick-witted lower cut blows as the two grappled. Lekett preferring not to follow his adversary in the boxing pattern closed down a retreating Jokardo’s arms before fascinatingly throwing him to the ground. The result was a tumultuous jubilation. While Sunday’s duel brings to a close the current wrestling season with the approach of Ramadan, the Barra-born ace is however tipped to face either Ernes Jatta, or Mboran on the resumption of the campaign.  ]]>
