UDP Treasurers’ Appeal Suffers Setback

By Rohey Jadama The appeal of Amadou Sanneh, the National Treasurer of the United Democratic Party (UDP), who is appealing his conviction at the Gambia Court of Appeal, has suffered a setback yesterday, 16th February, 2015.The case was supposed to proceed with the adoption of briefs, but a judicial source revealed to the media that Justice Naceesay Sallah-Wadda is indisposed and that the case will not proceed. The source further intimated that the case was adjourned till 26th February, 2015. Amadou Sanneh was convicted by Justice Emmanuel Nkea of the Special Criminal Court on 18 December 2013 for conspiracy to act with seditious intention and printing of seditious materials and sentenced to five years imprisonment on each count. The sentences are to run concurrently. The trial lasted from the 21st October, 2013 to 18th December, 2013.]]>
