The head coach of The Gambia U-20 team Abdoulie Bojang has disclosed that they are in the final stage of preparation and that things are going according to plan.

Coach Bojang made the disclosure to The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) media on Wednesday at the end of the team’s training at the NTTC in Old Yundum as the young scorpions intensify local training ahead of the TotalEnergies U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt 2023.

“The preparation is in high gear and we are working more on the tactics for the players to understand because we want to play as a team. And what I’ve seen at this point in time, honestly, I’m very much impressed with the work rate of the players,” he said.

Commenting on inviting players plying their trade outside the country, Coach Bojang said: “We have five players that we wanted to add up, including two players who were with us and went for a trial or signed a contract. At this point in time we need to finalise with the technical director. We have to have a meeting with him today (Wednesday).”

He further said they want to have a training camp either in Egypt or Morocco, saying the GFF is working on that.

“We probably leave here either on the 6th or on the 7th [February, 2023] to go for the training camp and probably we have two friendly international [matches],” he said.
