It seems the Senegalese league is turning to a footballing hotbed for Gambians as two more players are signed this week, Foroyaa Sport can report.
Gambian domestic clubs are providing market for neighbouring Senegalese sides as Jaraaf and Niarry Tally raid Gamtel and Real de Banjul for Sang Pierre Mendy and winger Sam Gibba.
Gibba’s move to Niarry Tally –who also signed goalkeeper Modou Jobe from Real last summer –is on a two-year deal while defender Mendy switches to former Champions Jaraaf on a season-long contract.
22-year-old Gibba, former Gambia Ports Authority, starred fifteen times missing only seven games in what was his debut season for Real prior to switching boats.
Real’s Willy Abraham voiced delight over ‘resolving’ Sam’s situation who he said ‘fits’ in Niarry Tally set up.
Sang Pierre who was of recent a feature for Gambia’s CHAN team had been reportedly on the wish-lists of clubs from Arabia and Europe before opting for Senegal.
These transfers confirm the trend of Gambian players proliferating Senegal’s domestic league with five more signed the previous week.
Days ago, Hawks let go three of its key players namely; Kabba Sambou, Alfusainey Gassama and striker Omar Sarr to Stade de Mbour on 12-month deals while Steve Biko also oversaw the departures of captain Modou Jatta and Saikou Conteh to clubs in Senegal.
These are a stark reminder of the massive player wages between Gambia and Senegal and is strongly believed to be the reason behind the mass exodus of Gambian players for Dakar.
Last year alone, up to six players swapped Gambia for Senegal including Yaya Kujabi, Pa Amadou Gai, goalkeeper Modou Jobe and Alieu Jatta who plies in the second tier after winning the FA Cup with Generation Foot.
