Two Gambian students have walked into the Offices of Foroyaa on Saturday January 2nd 2021, and disclosed their concerns over lack of finance to foot the bills for their higher degree programs at the University of The Gambia (UTG) and the Management Development Institute (MDI) respectively.
Muhammed Drammeh, who applied to the MDI, said he wants to study Gender and Development but due to financial constraints, he is unable to start the program. He said he has been admitted at MDI after applying for the two-year degree program, which costs fifty thousand and five hundred dalasi (D50, 500. 00).
Drammeh, a Senior Secondary School graduate since 2009, said for six years now he has been looking for scholarship to finance his education to no avail.
Sheikh T. Faye on the other hand wants to pursue a Master of Science Degree in Economics at the University of The Gambia (UTG), after he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in 2018.
Faye said he has since been looking for scholarship for the two-year Masters Degree program which amounts to one hundred and sixty thousand dalasi (D160, 000.00).
Like Drammeh, Faye has also received his admission letter to further his Degree program and is expected to start the course in January, immediately he gets the scholarship.
Both Dramme and Faye are calling on Government, philanthropists, Samaritans, etc., to come to their aid.
For any assistance, Drammeh can be reached on 2584489 or 9575989, whilst Faye can be reached on 2184292 or 3945101.
