The Bundung Magistrates court Monday, 3rd June 2024, remanded one Ebrima Daffeh to Mile II prison, a source familiar with the case told Foroyaa.

Mr Daffeh is a suspect in the alleged murder of one Alieu Ceesay. However, the source could not give additional details.

When contacted for comments on the matter, Cadet ASP Modou Musa Sisawo, the spokesperson of the Gambia Police Force (GPA), confirmed the story, saying the suspect was arraigned before a lower court in Bundung on June 3, 2024.

“He was remanded at the remand wing of Mile II prisons pending police investigation into the case,” the Police Spokesperson said.

Since the suspect was booked at the Mile 2 central prison, Police Spokesperson Sisawo said their detectives are intensively investigating the matter before his appearance at the high court in Banjul.

“The case will soon be transferred to the high court for further hearing,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Police earlier said in a statement that one Alieu Ceesay, a 20-year-old driver from Brikama, was allegedly killed by Ebrima Daffeh in Tujereng on 2 June 2024. It added that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, Ebrima Daffeh, allegedly attacked the victim at a restaurant in Tujereng, and stabbed him to death.

The body of the deceased has since been taken to the mortuary for a possible postmortem, while investigations into the case continue to determine the circumstances leading to his death.
