Kanifing, 15th July 2022: A press statement from the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure said it has come to their attention that some drivers are unilaterally increasing transport fares for various destinations across the country without approval from the relevant authorities.
The statement further indicates that drivers are reminded that the practice is unacceptable, and that the public is equally reminded that the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure has started negotiations with the relevant transport union officials for an amicable solution to the issue.
The statement concludes that until then, transport fares for all the destinations across the country remains the same, and that the Ministry highly solicits the cooperation of the general public especially commercial drivers, in this endeavour.
