Project Aid the Gambia, on Saturday 14th October 2017, received three Gambian children from Germany, after having gone on a complete overseas treatment, which availed them the opportunity to stay in Deutschland for one and half years. The flight that brought them, landed a little after 17:00 hrs in the evening.
The children who are Ebrima Minteh, Modou Juldeh Jallow and Omar Sarr, were received at the foot of the aircraft by their parents and members of the project. Shortly after their arrival, a presentation was made by their Dutch counterpart, Mrs. Mareike Jansen, on the treatment they went through, the procedures involved, their medications and a token of 40Euros was given to each of the kids. She appealed to the parents to still take greater care of their children and ensure that they take their medications as prescribed by the doctors.
Binta Jadama, one of the parents that this reporter spoke to, expressed gratitude to the project for the humanitarian gesture by helping her son regain his health and normal life. She thanked the project for their continuous assistance and dedication in helping Gambian children get treatment in Germany and urged them to keep up the momentum.
Mr. Baba Galleh Wulle, on behalf of the parents, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the PEACE VILLAGE and the entire Project, for their help; that without such assistance, things would have been very difficult for the children to get the right treatment.
“I know it has not been an easy task. We wish to therefore express our appreciation to Project Aid for coming to the aid of our children at the time when it is most needed and we are impressed with the feedback we got from the medical team from Germany,” he said. He challenged the project to fasten their belts and continue to render the support, adding that there are lots of children in need.
Mr. Mass Susso Manager at Project Aid the Gambia, said the project was founded in 1992, with the objective of helping Gambian people in the areas of Health, Agriculture and Education; that the project is mostly involved in the health care service of Gambians.
He said the project has been contributing to the socio-economic development of the Gambia and has among other things, constructed a clinic in Jahally, CRR, were the village and it surroundings come for medication. “We use to receive one hundred and fifty- two (152) patients a day and annually we receive Fifty thousand (50,000) and the cost of our drugs, is reasonable,” said Susso.
He lamented the provision of the children’s medical documents as their challenge adding that this helps in getting the other relevant documents when seeking treatment for the kids in Germany. He thanked the PEACE VILLAGE, the supreme authority of the project based in Germany, for their tremendous efforts in the health sectors of the country, in the absence of which the project is doomed to fail.
He thanked the Media for their partnership in disseminating their activities to the entire populace and called on Government, especially the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, to cooperate with them and avail them the support when needed; that they are partners in the development of the health sector of The Gambia.
Another four children will leave the shores of The Gambia for Germany today, 15th October 2017, in their quest to get treatment, fully catered for by the project and its German based sister Organization, PEACE VILLAGE.
