In the North Bank, a party spokesperson attempted to give information that the President has put an end to back way by negotiating with Spain for Gambians to enter Spain in a legal way. Apparently, many young Gambian people are getting passports in preparation for recruitment to go to Spain.
Foroyaa had earlier explained the content of the Memorandum of Understanding between The Gambia and Spain. We did emphasise that Spain would have to write to indicate the jobs that are available to be filled by Gambians and the Labour Department would coordinate the recruitment drive to fill the posts made available by Spain.
The tour party of the President did make it clear that Spain is the one to make a request and would also supervise the recruitment drive to fill the posts mentioned.
It should therefore be clear to all Gambians that there is no agreement for Gambians to get passports and proceed to look for a visa to go to Spain. The agreement that exists indicates that Spain is to make a request for workers and the Labour Department is to make a transparent selection process to fill the gap mentioned.
