The president has acknowledged the rise in inflation in his state of the nation address. He has not indicated how his government intends to address the problem of skyrocketing prices. If people cannot afford to wash the clothes of their children or buy food to have nutrition, how could they live happy lives? Leaders should always try to be in touch with the living standards of their people.
The results of the council elections indicate that in Kanifing Municipality, there was voter apathy. In Kanifing Municipality, out of 179800 registered voters only 103,618 voted. Many people did not see that voting will put an end to inflation.
The cost of living should be uppermost in the minds of the government. There is need to focus on inflation which requires remedial measures. The higher the crisis of essential commodities: the higher the disapproval of the president.
