THE PRESIDENT’S OFFICE SHOULD HAVE A COMPLAINTS DIVISION NO INTERFERENCE IN CIVIL MATTERS BY SECURITY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS!

The Brushubi Police Station should however be commended for swift action in arresting the accomplices of abduction and tracing the whereabouts of the abducted person to calm the nerves of family members. The case involves the abduction of a young man who had a family problem which had already been put before Social Welfare authorities and was being processed at the children’s court. The law enforcement or security personnel should have told any complainant that the matter was a civil one and direct them to Social Welfare Department or the Children’s Court. To intrude a residence after midnight and abduct the person in charge and keep him in custody overnight for committing no crime is itself a criminal behaviour to say the least. The victim does not want publicity which saves the culprit. As the old saying goes: If no one notices the person standing in the dark, he at least knows that he is living in darkness and should head towards the light.]]>
